UP, UP, UP & Away with the Negative!
- Microsoft is at 25.06 today; UP from 2006 at the height of the Real Estate Boom it was only 23.42
- The Nikkei is down 465, the Dow is only down in 420's- Today
- The US dollar is gaining value against the Canadian dollar- UP 2.3%- Today
- Gold is UP
- 5 & 10 yr. Treasury Notes are UP
Realtors we need to be UP, too!
We are at work, today, let's all find something positive to say about our industry, our business and our economic future.
People will always need places to live and people will always own places to sell- No matter what the media says, no matter how low the market may go, no matter how many Banks fail, Real Estate will always happen.
Go forth and answer the "So, how's it going?" Question with a "GREAT!!" . . .
"The Dollar is strengthening against the Canada Dollar. Since the Stock Market and the Housing Markets are inversely related, the good news is that with a soft Stock Market, it is now a great time to make SOLID, LOGICAL, LONG-TERM Investments in Real Estate."
"With so many good deals on the market, because of foreclosures from flippers and a 40 year low on interest rates; a wise investor committed to a long term gain and maybe open to rentals, has a great selection to choose from."
"We need to turn off the television and call a Realtor to show us how our local market is doing. Now, more than ever, is it time to get buying advice from a person committed to Ethical transactions. Real Estate is local and a Realtor is the best person to guide you through the purchasing process."
Let's get positive, let's get unified and let's turn this market around!

Jane... Up, Up and Away! I love it! Or as my Mom used to preach..."Accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative!
Cat, Thanks for your Mother's thoughts, I think we need to listen!
Jane,
As usual well put.
We need to remind people that the sky is not falling. There is no bread line forming.
This is the greatest country in the world. Credit is available is you deserve it. Home loans are at a 40 year low. Now is a good time to buy or sell a home.
We need to counter what the press is saying and get the word out.
True,we must be a voice of calm and upbeat tones.....
Richard, Thanks for the compliment! I posted this at 11:11 yesterday and the market did some crazy things, but ended even lower- under 400. When we listen to the media they focus on the negative because it is easy drama. Instead of reporting: "The largest single day drop in Market History", They would have had to say: "Today was a roller-coaster ride full of excitement with a stronger finish than expected"! Both are interesting and I prefer the latter, unfortunately American media loves the former. Keep up the positive outlook, even if the media won't!
Dan, Great point, remain calm. I have noticed some very disconcerting posts about people doing terrible things in reaction to the National Situation. We will overcome this and shooting yourself is NOT the solution to your problems, Millions of people are feeling the crunch and companies and people understand.
The image at the beginning of your post brought a smile. I believe in realism, but there is no advantage in being negative. When the real estate market was at its boom, that brought special challenges just like this market brings its unique challenges. You have to learn to adapt and keep a positive attitude.
