If the Shoe Fits . . . The REALTOR should, too!
As REALTORS, we are always trying to find the fairytale, happy ending house for our clients.
Sometimes we look at so many different styles both our clients and ourselves are left in a muddle of confused images: some are too small, others too large; but when we find the house that fits "just right"- we all know it.
The same should be true when trying to find the REALTOR that is Just Right, too! As a BUYER or SELLER, choosing an agent should be approached with the same commitment.

Do you want to feel coddled and cared for . . . ?

Secured and Protected, at all cost . . . ?
Do you want to fit in with the crowd or have an agent that will tap dance just for you . . . ?

Just like in finding a house, you should list the things you want in your Agent.
-
Years of experience or A Fresh New Perspective
-
Savvy Negotiation Skills or Matter of Fact Opinion
-
Hard Sale or Soft Touch, Smooth and Polished or Coy and Surprising
-
In it for the Closing or Committed to the Community
-
A Tour Guide or Welcome Wagon

Whether you like broken-in leather boots, designer pumps or practical flats; You know what you need and want in a House. REALTORS come in many styles, too. Find the one that best fits your needs and stick with them because they will stick with you until you move in or sell.
If you want a Veteran or Newbie; A Gold Jacket or Independent- find the right Agent for your goals and the process will be even better when you Close! If the shoe fits- The Realtor will, too!

"I sell Dirt in a Skirt" - and wear Merrell Mary Jane's with sport treads to do it in!

[The Photos used in this blog are from the Wikipedia Website on Shoes and from www.bunnyslippers.com and www.eluxury.com and www.merrell.com]

What a great illustration of the different types of personalities!
Thanks, I guess it was not good enough to win, though.
Jane Page selling Aiken: I see you like shoes? I too, love my shoes, my many and many pairs of shoes! You did a great job at letting buyers know about picking the right agent and hopefully making the shoe fit. Best of luck selling dirt in a skirt in your Mary Jane's.
Too soon to say whether it's good enough to win, since AR was down 18 hours over the weekend and judges couldn't access the entries.
Michele, If the suit makes the man, the shoes are just the beginning with women. My husband says that I have too many and some that I have yet to wear, I tell him all in good time!
Margaret, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I doubt the judges will see my little humor in this post worthy of being featured. Thanks & have a great day!
Jane.... as Margaret said, AR was down for almost 2 days.... and then you had Monday with meetings and the election yesterday. In any case, I agree, nice illustration and cute. And I agree, suits usually make a man and shoes make a woman. Nice job here...
Jane, Congratulations on your win. You posted this after I had read the entries on Saturday and I missed it. Good job!!! Connie
Hi Jane, A big, huge congratulations on your winning blog! Great information and I too, love the shoe analogy! God bless,
Very creative, Jane. Congrats on the win on the contest as well. This post is very worthy.
Jane, Congratulations, I really LOVED your post--and it's very true!
Connie, Cheryl, Jeff, Jason and Carole, Thanks for the compliment and surprise! I had no idea until just now, I have been traveling all day to Orlando!
Jeff- Thanks for the contest!

Elizabeth, Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Jane, congratulations! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your article and know that you will kick some *## here in the Rain. Keep up the great work.
Gena, I am not sure about the ###, but I do enjoy the people here on AR!
Congratulation Jane,

Margaret, thanks for subscribing, I can not promise wisdom or enlightenment, but I will guarantee a few soapboxes! Thanks for the support!
Those Merrill's look very comfortable. I discovered Ecco shoes a few years ago and have really appreciated the comfort.
Great analogy! Shoes - one of my favorite things! And I love the line "I sell dirt in a skirt!"
Congrats on winning the contest!
Diane and Alisha, thanks for stopping by and reading my post, I love my mary janes! Keep shoe shopping!
Way to go Jane Page :) Congrats on the win. This is a great post. And yes - those are your shoes, I would recognize them anywhere. See you after the conference. Have fun and safe trip back to Aiken.
Kara, Thanks! Ithink I need to get a contract with Merrell for not only buying so many pairs, but for advertising for them:)
Jane, What an inspiration you are! I am a newborn newbie...This is all very overwhelming.I hope that with enough practice I can do something that good.
Debbie, Thanks! There are some great teachers here on AR and you will see how great they are, I have alot to learn! Welcome!
Jane,
Well said as always. I have not spent much time in AR the past few days; however it was a delight to start my day off reading your blog.
Great post. I also love your slogan " I sell dirt in a skirt". How cute is that! Congrats on winning first place.
Betina
I like it Jane! You are right about the different personalities of agents. I love the shoes too!
Dare I say "I told you so!" - The judges just needed access to AR so they could read all the posts. Seriously, I loved your Thanksgiving post, as well. Congrats on the win (and you inspired me to become a subscriber).
Congratulations on your creative entry and a job well done!
Congratulations on this blog, and you have done a great job here! I love the shoes!
Jane,
Congrats on the contest! I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
Sean
Congratulations on your win! Wow, 1,000 points, and you deserve it... What an analogy!
Congratulations on a clever and important post, Jane! I think too many people choose a REALTOR for reasons that have nothing to do with someone who is a good "fit" for them.
Richard, Thanks for the comment, I hope you have had a good day!
Betina:Thanks for the vote of cuteness!
Jen: I have been at a LeadingRE Sales Ralley, Hosted the RLI booth at the Expo and been to meet Misty-May and Kerri all today in my Mary Janes! And I am on my way to Epcot to a wine tasting and then to the AR event and I will still have on the best shoes ever made! Thanks!
Margaret, you were so great to think I could pull it off, so thanks! And I will try to keep you interested!
Tracy: thanks for the compliment!
Sharon: I love the shoes and highly recommend them!
Sean: thanks for reading my post!
Sherry: thanks for commenting!
Dianne, i am all about the fit and I hope people get it.
Congrats on the win and the feature Jane Page. Hope you are having a good time in Orlando.
The shoes make the woman, and you are quite a gal.
A true shoe lover thru and thru! Great post! Aren't those Merrell's great!
This is a good reminder that there are many different types of realtors as there are many kinds of buyers and sellers.
Gene, thanks for stopping by and I had a good time getting my award! Thanks!
Lyn, You know it! I love my Merrells!
Christine: It is so true that we are all very different and finding a fit is important because often the realtor is the introduction you get to a new town!
Jane this was such a fun post to read. And a very good analogy. Now I'm thinking about shoes and MaryJane Merrels! I hope they come in red.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh....I LOVE shoes! What a great analogy. It speaks to me. GBU!
Lynn, I have a purple pair!
Elizabeth: I am happy to give you a little something back, thanks for your inspiration!
Jane - Congrats on winning the contest and the feature post! I loved your creativity in using the shoes as such a great analogy. Looking forward to seeing more of you in the "Rain". :-)
Jane - Great Job - I just love your sence of humor and the Hat! Great job. I can not wait to see more.
Donna: Thanks and I think I am a rain addict, now!
Gwenn: I will try to keep up with the rest of the great bloggers that I read here! Thanks!
Jane, congratulations on the post and I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work out there.
Jane, what a cute analogy. I enjoyed the post.
Eric: Thanks for the encouragement!
Heather, we women understand shoe! Thanks!
What a great post. I think you really hit the heart of an important issue. We are each unique individuals with unique tastes and so forth. It is true that the client needs to find the right fit and vice versa.
PS. I am definintely the flashy pumps...you had my interest immediately! And CONGRATS!
Lori Cofer, Beasley Realty
Congratulations! I loved the "dirt in a skirt"!
Great post about seeking your comfort level.
I would have never come up with that. Thanks for sharing.
Lori, Gwen, Spencer & Ben: THANKS FOR THE GREAT COMMENTS!
I am working on a follow-up for Land Brokers, something in the way of the right bait, but I am still working on it, thanks for your thoughts!
I am really digging those Merrell Mary Jane's with treads! Gotta google it!
The "dirt in a skirt" reminds me of a friend long ago who would do just about anything for anyone. Her motto was "I'll jog for a frog." I think she was hoping to meet that prince.
Renee & Russel- Thanks for the humor and comments!
I didn't see any flip-flops -- LOL. I work with a Realtor here who always wears shorts, a Hawaiian print shirt, and flip-flops. You can probably guess that he works the beach communities, and very successfully.
Best wishes for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity in 2009.
