A Chance to Shine Contest: If the shoe fits. . . !

If the Shoe Fits . . . The REALTOR should, too!

High heel designer shoe

As REALTORS, we are always trying to find the fairytale, happy ending house for our clients.

Sometimes we look at so many different styles both our clients and ourselves are left in a muddle of confused images: some are too small, others too large; but when we find the house that fits "just right"- we all know it.

The same should be true when trying to find the REALTOR that is Just Right, too!  As a BUYER or SELLER, choosing an agent should be approached with the same commitment.

Bunny Slippers

Do you want to feel coddled and cared for . . . ?

Secured and Protected, at all cost . . . ?

Do you want to fit in with the crowd or have an agent that will tap dance just for you . . . ?

Just like in finding a house, you should list the things you want in your Agent.

  • Years of experience or A Fresh New Perspective
  • Savvy Negotiation Skills or Matter of Fact Opinion
  • Hard Sale or Soft Touch, Smooth and Polished or Coy and Surprising
  • In it for the Closing or Committed to the Community
  • A Tour Guide or Welcome Wagonboot

Whether you like broken-in leather boots, designer pumps or practical flats; You know what you need and want in a House.  REALTORS come in many styles, too.  Find the one that best fits your needs and stick with them because they will stick with you until you move in or sell.

If you want a Veteran or Newbie; A Gold Jacket or Independent- find the right Agent for your goals and the process will be even better when you Close!  If the shoe fits- The Realtor will, too!

What a great illustration of the different types of personalities!

Thanks, I guess it was not good enough to win, though.

Posted by Jane Page Thompson about 1 year ago

Jane Page selling Aiken:  I see you like shoes?  I too, love my shoes, my many and many pairs of shoes!  You did a great job at letting buyers know about picking the right agent and hopefully making the shoe fit.  Best of luck selling dirt in a skirt in your Mary Jane's.

Too soon to say whether it's good enough to win, since AR was down 18 hours over the weekend and judges couldn't access the entries.

Posted by Margaret Woda, Maryland Real Estate (Long and Foster, Crofton Real Estate) about 1 year ago

Michele, If the suit makes the man, the shoes are just the beginning with women.  My husband says that I have too many and some that I have yet to wear, I tell him all in good time!

Posted by Jane Page Thompson about 1 year ago

Margaret, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I doubt the judges will see my little humor in this post worthy of being featured.  Thanks & have a great day!

Posted by Jane Page Thompson about 1 year ago

Jane....  as Margaret said, AR was down for almost 2 days....  and then you had Monday with meetings and the election yesterday. In any case, I agree, nice illustration and cute.  And I agree, suits usually make a man and shoes make a woman.  Nice job here...

Congratulations on a clever and important post, Jane!  I think too many people choose a REALTOR for reasons that have nothing to do with someone who is a good "fit" for them.

I didn't see any flip-flops -- LOL. I work with a Realtor here who always wears shorts, a Hawaiian print shirt, and flip-flops. You can probably guess that he works the beach communities, and very successfully.

Best wishes for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity in 2009.
